Madam, - Ciaran Cuffe, TD (August 28th) clearly doesn't understand the issues involved in the proposed Quality Bus Corridor for Mount Merrion Avenue.
We all believe in providing decent public transport but there are aspects of this particular proposal that don't make sense. Specifically:
1. There is no customer demand for buses on this route.
2. Over half of the buses currently travelling on the avenue are "out of service".
3. Dublin Bus has stated publicly that it has no extra buses to run on this proposed bus corridor.
In addition, its construction will damage the environment through the destruction of a large percentage of existing trees and grass verges. Surely not a desirable "green" proposition? - Yours, etc.,
Cllr MARIE BAKER, (Fine Gael), Avondale Lawn, Blackrock,Co Dublin.
