Madam, - I wonder how many of your readers feel as revolted as I do that our country should be defiled by the presence of George W. Bush? That Ireland should be the venue for a war summit between that unprincipled warmonger and his accomplice Tony Blair is odious.
As if the shame of Shannon is not already bringing more than enough ignominy upon us, we are now discredited further, as the name of Ireland is firmly stitched into the coalition of the wicked before the eyes of the world.
We are dishonoured by association with international criminals engaged in the merciless and unrelenting murder (what else is it?) of innocent and helpless fellow human-beings, for their own imperial aims.
That this bizarre "war and peace" meeting is a cynical propaganda exercise there is no doubt. It is the beginning of a process of transmogrification of ruthless hawks into peace-loving doves. I resent and deplore the fact that Ireland is being used, or should I say abused, for this purpose.
Of course, our Taoiseach will use the occasion to ingratiate himself further with the power hungry "big hitters", thereby continuing to make a mockery of our "neutrality", while Ireland's reputation and good name goes down the tubes.
It is all a thoroughly disgusting scenario. - Yours, etc.,
GEAROID KILGALLEN,
