Sir, – Michael Parsons ("Exploring the auction scene in Dublin 100 years ago", Home & Design, April 30th) recounts the activities of Dublin auction houses in 1916. He might have added that in those days, and well into the 1980s, the buyer's premium was 5 per cent.
It has now risen to 20 per cent and more. Of course the sales catalogues are more elaborate now, but . . .
