Sir, Since the Supreme Court judgment on the matter, are not the members of the Government collectively in serious contempt of court each time Pat Rabbitte TD, or anyone else not a member of Cabinet, is present at a Cabinet meeting and is privy to its discussions?

If so, why has no action been taken by the Attorney General? If any action were taken, what sanctions could be placed on our Government if found to be breaching the Constitution? As far as I can see there are none.

own view is that Cabinet confidentially is not constitutionally based for the following obvious reason. Any Government Minister could divulge in either House of the Oireachtas every detail of a Cabinet discussion without being amenable to any court and therefore without legal sanction. The fact that they choose not to, or do not, is beside the point. - Yours, etc.,
