Madam, - Senator Donie Cassidy's suggestion of a 50mph (80kmh) speed limit for non-Irish users of Irish roads can best be described as comical. What plans does he have for policing this strategy? Does a speed gun or camera exist that can detect nationality as well as velocity?

He also mentions the ridculous possibility that Irish drivers should switch to driving on the right-hand side of the road. I presume that once they've switched to an unfamiliar side of the road they too will have to stick to 50mph? - Yours, etc,
