Sir, – The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, suggests that the 7,500 unused electronic voting machines might decorate “Irish-themed pubs across the world” (Home News, June 13th).
The €55 million government investment in high-tech electronics could be put to practical use closer to home.
Installing a voting machine in each of the 7,500 pubs remaining in Ireland would give their diminishing clientele the opportunity to vote daily on the performance of the Cabinet – and Mr Noonan in particular. – Yours, etc,
