Madam, - I refer to a recent report concerning the creation of a "cathedral quarter" of Dublin (The Irish Times, October 11th) which would include the "elimination" of St Audoen's Park "to reinstate a sense of enclosure". My father, Canon R.H. Dowse, who was rector of St Audeon's Church for many years, spent a considerable time "resurrecting" the St Audoen's Park graveyard to be an open space for the local citizens to stroll, read, or just contemplate.
As this is an extremely historical area and as there are so few of these green areas in that part of Dublin, it would be a desecration to eliminate it. - Yours, etc,
