Sir, - I was enjoying the Rose of Tralee competition on TV, compered by Mr Marty Whelan, until his interview with the Texas Rose. She became a Roman Catholic at Easter, which I would regard as a personal matter, and not a cause for public congratulations by Mr Whelan. As a member of the Church of Ireland I found this highly offensive and I feel I must express my extreme disappointment in Mr Whelan and in the fact that he felt he could comfortably make such a statement publicly. - Yours, etc.,
