Madam, – Well done Dublin on being named Unesco City of Literature (Arts, July 27th). Now, finally, we may get commemorative plaques at the birthplaces of Northside writers like Edmund Burke, Iris Murdoch and Richard Brinsley Sheridan.

It might also be a good idea to restore the library at St Paul’s school, North Brunswick Street, so we can increase the literacy levels of our young people to enable them read the work of our writers. – Yours, etc,
