Sir, – Does the reader referred to in Conor Pope's article "Is it right for a charity shop to charge hundreds for a piece of jewellery?" (Pricewatch, August 23rd) miss the point of charity shops entirely? I applaud the practice of having items of value assessed and then offered for sale at an appropriate price. The whole point of donating to a charity shop is to allow that facility make money for the charity it represents. – Yours, etc,
