Sir, - People walking up and down Grafton Street in the sun over the Easter weekend will have seen several small children, with pinched faces and very small voices, singing the same songs over and over, and standing for hours without refreshment. These children have been seen before at various spots on this street.
This is child labour. It must shock the tourists, those curious hoards who come to observe Ireland of the thousand welcomes, Ireland of the joyous music, Ireland of the laughing people. Are they shocked by Ireland of the children without a childhood? And when will it shock us? - Yours, etc., Sheila O'Hagan,
St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2.
