A chara, – Dr John Waterstone argues that prospective parents will engage in "reproductive tourism" to circumvent the rights of the children they hope to have to know their full genetic identity ("Why it's wrong to ban anonymity for egg and sperm donors", Opinion & Analysis, March 5th).
This would be a poor reason for changing the law. Something is either right or it isn’t; and if it is wrong, then we as a society would be wrong to be complicit in it by legislating to accommodate the wrong.
The right of these children to know fully who they are is at the very heart of this issue; any attempt to try and legislate their rights out of existence would be to treat them as commodities who should just shut up and be grateful they were born. – Is mise,
