Sir, - Referring to the letter of November 23rd from John Whelan, Irish Exporters' Association regarding trade with China: I am not one that trades with China, but I am an Interpreter of the Chinese National Language and a retired Incorporated Linguist of the Institute of Linguists, London. I must correct Mr Whelan over his statement that there is "no equivalent in the Chinese language for the word `private'".
I assure Mr Whelan that this concept is well catered for in Chinese, along with distinctions for "confidential" and "restricted". I would be happy to discuss this with him should he wish to contact me. - Yours, etc,
Bruckless House,
Bruckless, Co. Donegal.
