Sir, - C. T. Greenan's attempted criticism of Fr. Michael Commane's article can hardly be considered the result of serious thought on the subject of Church and media. Fr. Greenan on one hand dismisses the article as ill- researched and inaccurate, and on the other hand advances a counter-argument without citing a single fact in support of his own theories on the issue.
Instead of berating Fr. Commane, albeit lamely, it would surely be more constructive to consider the aforementioned article in a reasoned, intelligent way and see it as a component part of the wider issue. An opportunity to widen the debate has been dismissed by Fr. Greenan. One expects the Order of Preachers to produce preachers, but surely not simply to order? - Yours, etc.,
