Sir, - The intricately woven cloth of peace, so patiently worked on in Ireland over the past 25 years, has been torn to shreds. The finely detailed, richly coloured pattern which was becoming ever more discernable as the weavers applied themselves to their task, has been reduced to a tangled shadow of its former beauty.
But look carefully. The threads, though broken, frayed and misplaced, are still on the loom and can be woven back into the pattern. As soon as the weavers reapply themselves to their task, the beautiful cloth of peace can be completed and ready for us all enjoy. - Yours, etc.,
