A chara, - I saw the film on a recent trip to the US. In my opinion, it has many positive features and some awful, glaring faults (but let readers judge for themselves). The sets and scenery are magnificent and the superb performance by Alan Rickman as Dev justifies the price of admission.
But why on earth did Sheamus Smith, an experienced and perceptive censor, give it a PG certificate? MC is definitely not suitable for children; its motif is killing and mayhem, as well as uncalled for expletives. The US censor saw fit to restrict it to adult-viewing. Are Irish children less immune to the gruesome image? Yours, etc.,
