Madam, - The past weekend has seen many commemorations of the 1916 Rising around the country. While I am aware that the rebellion began on Easter Monday (not on the Sunday as many people think), the actual date was April 24th. Historical commemorations, unlike some religious ones, are not moveable feasts, so 1916 commemorations should take place as close to the anniversary as possible. - Yours, etc.,
