Sir, – Allow me to give Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar a sense of the competition for American tourists. I can go online today and book an all-inclusive five-night vacation at a top resort (flight, hotel, food and drink) to the Caribbean from Boston for under $1,000 per person. A flight alone to Dublin would cost me $1,600. Granted, it’s a totally different experience, especially if you have family in Ireland, as I do. But until something can be done about the prices of flights (especially during the summer months, when you really want the visitors to come), the US tourist business is never going to take off. – Your, etc,
