Sir, - On July 13th I received a letter of apology from Dublin Bus, enclosing a number of complimentary two-journey bus tickets to compensate me for the driver of a route 13A bus failing to stop. Naturally, I was impressed by this courtesy and apology, and I went to the bus stop, happily clutching one of the complimentary tickets.
Lo and behold, along came a 13A, I held out my left arm and. . .the bus gaily sped past, through the traffic lights which were just changing, rushing onwards into town. There were, incidentally, very few passengers on this bus - which is understandable if the driver isn't inclined to stop to pick them up!
Using public transport is the way to lessen gridlock, but if public transport doesn't transport, what option do we have? Or maybe this was just the curse of the 13A on the 13th? - Yours, etc.,
Anne Holliday, Dargle Road, Dublin 9.
