Sir, – Patricia Rouiller (July 29th) frets about those who have to grapple with whipped ice-cream cones while driving and suggests that this dangerous practice be prohibited. Ms Roullier’s tongue may or may not be slyly inserted in her cheek, but anyway I would like to offer my support to her campaign and couple with it my concern for the safety of road users from those drivers who take regular swigs from those ubiquitous large bottles of water which also pop up (literally) in cinemas, theatres and just about everywhere else. Mobile phones are only the half of it. – Yours, etc,
LOUIS HOGAN,
