Madam, - I read with interest Peter Murtagh's article about the Confraternity of St James and the Camino de Santiago (An Irishman's Diary, May 19th). The confraternity celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Among the illustrious few whom he mentions he might have included Aileen O'Sullivan from Killorglin, Co Kerry, who was the only Irish person on the committee in London 25 years ago. Aileen, who now lives in Lancashire, is still actively involved and was a prime mover in the establishment of the confraternity's refugios.

- Yours, etc,

JOHN O'KEEFFE, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
