Sir, - May I propose a solution for Cardinal Connell, Archbishop Empey and the Dublin archdiocese?
Step 1: Promote Cardinal Connell to work full time in Rome with Cardinal Ratzinger at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. There are many "infallible" statements waiting to be issued.
Step 2: In a truly ecumenical move and a clear sign of Christian unity allow Archbishop Empey to fill the role of Catholic as well as Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin.
As a Catholic I would welcome Archbishop Empey taking over from Cardinal Connell. - Yours, etc.,
