Madam, – Three cheers for John Waters (Opinion, September 17th). I, for one, am disgusted at the sneering, uninformed and dishonest journalism that makes Pope Benedict, as your columnist puts it, the “convenient target for all kinds of anti-religious sentiment”.
How refreshing that Mr Waters gives every sign of actually having checked what the pope has written and said, rather than just rehashing distorted media reports. – Yours, etc,
