Madam, - We should be grateful to John Collins (Business This Week, August 10th) for quoting business consultant Ian Rhodes directly.
The head of PA Consulting's technology group reportedly said:
"One of the first steps is getting that entrepreneurial ecosystem going around the research organisations, so people can begin to spin out. . . It's the seed that flows into the angel, which flows into the early venture stage funding."
John Collins suggests that some people may be concerned about management consultants being engaged to advise government and business on turning research into products. If this gobbledegook is anything to go by, there are reasons to be very afraid. - Yours, etc,
