Sir, - Your front-page report about Elvis Presley's eating habits (The Irish Times, June 6th) disgusted me and several others. It was totally out of keeping with the style of your paper, completely unsuited to your front page and generally degrading in tone. For the benefit of those who did not read it (and I wish I was one of them!), your correspondent described the texture, content and amount of food most enjoyed by "the King", as recounted by his recently deceased cook.
The report shared parity of importance with such trivialities as the Police Bill in Northern Ireland, the death of a man of 81 at the hands of intruders in his own home, and Vladimir Putin's meeting with the Pope. You must have been very badly stuck if Elvis' breakfast was all you could come up with for something to fill an empty space. Yuk! - Yours, etc.,
Heather Abrahamson, Roebuck Lawn, Clonskeagh, Dublin 14.
