Madam, - The recent decision of Mr Justice McGovern - that in-vitro embryos were not protected by the abortion referendum - is both surprising and dangerous, for two reasons.
1. The majority of our people have proved themselves pro-life. When they voted "Yes" in that referendum, it was surely our people's intention to protect all human life at all stages.
2. The judge's strange interpretation of Article 40.3.3 has removed constitutional protection from all living human embryos outside the womb and left them open to a death-bringing experimentation and research. And these are human beings.
This appalling situation must be put right as soon as possible. - Yours, etc,
