Covid and personal responsibility

Sir, – While I appreciate and understand why we should have guidance on how we ought to behave in the pandemic, I now notice that some people seem to depend on Government guidelines for aspects of our lives on which we previously made our own decisions.

Don’t go to the pantomime if you don’t feel safe in a confined space with loads other strangers, don’t go to a party, including a children’s one, if you are wary about the virus status of other guests.

Is it possible that we could be responsible and make our own decisions? Within the law, of course. – Yours, etc,
