Madam, – Brian Cowen says that he took full responsibility for his actions in managing the economy (Home News, May 15th). But this is not the same as saying “I got it wrong” or “I made mistakes”. The absence of the personal pronoun demonstrates a stubborn refusal to accept personal responsibility for his actions.
We don’t need a speech from him to tell us that “it” all went wrong – that’s just rubbing our noses in it. And shifting the blame onto everyone else is simply juvenile. If he had the courage to stand up and accept his role, we might be more able to trust the Government. – Yours, etc,
