Sir, I have read with interest your article on creches (February 28th). I am pleased to note that the Minister for Finance states that Irish law must comply with European law in respect of the Sixth Directive on VAT.
May I remind the Minister that in spite of many requests, he has refused to reduce the rates of VAT payable by florists, as directed by the Sixth Directive on VAT and in line with most European countries. Our organisation, too, has met with the same refusal even to discuss the matter, as the Minister is too busy to see us.
