CRISIS IN AER LINGUS

Sir, - Readers of your Letters page of January 22nd may have read a letter from Second Officer Jill McDonald.

Sir, - Readers of your Letters page of January 22nd may have read a letter from Second Officer Jill McDonald.

Ms McDonald, a very recently qualified airline pilot with minimal flying experience, is facing redundancy in the near future. In fact she has already been issued such notice. It is of major importance to her career prospects that she gets as much flying experience as possible before her redundancy notice takes effect.

In her letter Ms McDonald takes serious issue with management on its handling of the crisis in Aer Lingus. We heartily concur with the views she expressed.

Readers may be interested to know that within hours of that letter appearing, Ms McDonald, on instructions from Aer Lingus senior management, was taken off all flying duties.
