Sir, - The deplorable situation in Kosovo has not been improved by NATO's illegal, dangerous, and counter-productive actions. NATO's irresponsibility should give pause to those in our Fianna Fail-led Government who are at present cosying up to the euphemistically named Partnership for Peace, despite an explicit promise in the Fianna Fail general election manifesto that the party would oppose Irish participation in NATO itself, in NATO-led organisations such as Partnership for Peace, or in the Western European Union beyond observer status.
The adverse consequences of the loss of Irish sovereignty in the monetary area are already visible. Before too long we can expect to experience damage in other areas of Irish life. Let us hope that we do not see the day when Irishmen and Irishwomen become cannon fodder for the New Model Army of the United States of Europe. - Yours, etc., Dr Gerard Casey, Leader, Christian Solidarity Party,
