Sir, - I am in no way a military expert, but it occurs to me that if Dublin was the capital of Serbia it would be a very different place by now. Leinster House and Government Buildings would be gone (taking with them much of Kildare Street and Merrion Street); Dublin Airport and Baldonnell would be gone; the Liffey rail bridge, Butt Bridge, the West Link bridge and several other major bridges would be gone; the docks and Ringsend fuel depots would be ablaze; the M50 and all major roads out of the city would be impasssable; and, of course, the Curragh camp in Kildare would be a wasteland.
