Sir, - We are no strangers to troubles on our Island. But how far would the peace process have gone if the British had sent in jets to bomb Dublin in retaliation for bombings in Britain? How far would we have got if the British shot dead almost 100 people during a few weeks of rioting?
If Israel imagines for one moment that it can shoot its way to a lasting peace, it has a hard lesson ahead. An eye for an eye just leaves two half-blind people; it doesn't solve anything. - Yours, etc.,
Garry Clarke, Spricklestown, The Ward, Co Dublin.
