A chara, Like Sean Kilfeather, I was in Croke Park for the two replayed All Ireland Football Semi-Finals in the year of Our Lord 1955 (Irish Times, September 7th). I stood in a queue from 9.45 am to get into the sideline.

What I saw in the afternoon was Kerry beating Cavan, and Dublin beating Mayo. Sean's account had Dublin beating Cavan and Kerry beating Mayo.

Though a Kerryman myself, the abiding memory I have of that day was the ferocity of the first half of the Dublin/Mayo encounter. This was a vintage year for the Kingdom, as Kerry beat the "Dublin machine" in the final. Thanks for the memory, Sean Is mise, Newcastle West, Co Limerick.
