Sir, – I am writing to thank Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, for their care over the years for my lovely son. Jack lived in Crumlin for the most part of his first 3½ years, only getting home for weeks at a time, and his total inpatient stay amounted to three years in that short time. He was in the old cardiac wards and in and out of the intensive care unit.
He is 10 now and is only here because of the tremendous care he received there. He is severely disabled and still spends a great deal of time frequenting Crumlin as he is under the care of more than 10 different teams.
I just really want to take this opportunity to thank each and every nurse, doctor, surgeon, anaesthetist, play therapist and all the people behind the scenes – the social workers, psychologists, healthcare assistants, cooks, porters and cleaners – for all their care and smiles over the years.
