Sir, – Transition-year students will be able to take classes in horse care, hunting, breeding and grooming as part of a new equine studies module from this September. At Friends of the Elderly we have been campaigning for years to get a “Care of the Older Person” module introduced to the transition-year curriculum. This five-day, Further Education and Training Awards Council-recognised course has been successfully taken by thousands of people, giving them the skills to care for the elderly in their communities.
