Sir, - Further to Gay McCarron's letter (February 5th) I have been surprised by the number of people who have written to me about HMS Wasp. I now have a number of divergent accounts of the day.
With regard to Cursing Stones, I have always understood that they were a small number of rounded stones, about 10" or 12" in size, placed in hollows called bullain made for them in a flat rock. I was surprised to learn that the Cursing Stone on Tory was a "great boulder", because one of my correspondents told me that after the sinking of the Wasp, the stones (plural) were taken away.
Can this mean that there was also a set of conventional Cursing Stones on Tory? - Yours, etc.,
