Cuts to disability groups

Sir, – Fintan O'Toole ("The crisis is over, so when does the cruelty stop?", March 31st) rails against the cuts to small organisations that provide services to people with chronic disabilities. He may well be right, but unless there is transparency in how such decisions are made, one cannot know for sure. Public funding to voluntary groups needs to be based on clear service level agreements, and these need to be monitored to ensure the money is spent as agreed.

Come to think of it, all our health budget spending should be open to scrutiny to ensure the public finances are used appropriately and the most vulnerable are prioritised. – Yours, etc, FRANK BROWNE Templeogue, Dublin 16.
