Sir, – You report on the legal difficulties encountered by the Government in dealing with politicians’ pensions (Front page, March 11th). With more referendums on the way later this year, space could surely be found for a suitably worded amendment abating the amount of the pensions and the qualifying starting age, together with a similar one to cover pensioners of our nationalised banks who retired since September 2008.
The Coalition would, by so doing, not only be feeling our pain but sharing it too. After all, are we not in this together? – Yours etc,
