Sir, - Following the genocidal onslaught by Israeli artillerymen on the Unifil camp in Qana, during which 102 Lebanese men, women and children were murdered, you published my letter (April 25th) comparing the actions of the Israelis with those of the second World War Wehrmacht.
His Excellency, the Ambassador of Israel is quoted (April 26th) as saying that he found the letter to be very, very abhorrent" and adding that "I don't think that anybody would accept that type of criticism - equating us with the Nazis". (Except, perhaps, some unfortunate Lebanese.) He stated he would not be replying to my letter.
in a profile of Mr Netanyahu in the Sunday Times (June 2nd) it is reported that, at a demonstration in Israel only a month before the assassination of Premier Rabin, members of Mr Netanyahu's Likud Party distributed leaflets depicting Mr Rabin in "Nazi" uniform. Perhaps Ambassador Gabay would care to reply now, or will he do the honourable thing and refuse to serve any longer as representative of that cynical regime in Israel? - Yours, etc.,
