Sir, – So the State cannot afford to pay for Orkambi, the powerful new cystic fibrosis drug ("Cystic fibrosis patients dismayed as Orkambi rejected", June 2nd). That's surprising given that the estimated annual cost of this drug, about €80 million, is quite a bit less than the amount doled out to the general population via the risible water conservation grant in 2015. It's funny how money can always be found when politics demands it. – Yours, etc,
