Sir, – John Carmody of the Animal Rights Action Network believes that labelling certain dog breeds as dangerous is "inaccurate" and "absolutely hurtful to the many species of dog such as staffies and pit-bulls" ("Thousands unhappy with dangerous dog warnings in Meath", May 9th). While I would agree that labelling entire breeds as dangerous is not always 100 per cent accurate, there is a reason why there are so few cases of border collies and greyhounds mauling children to death. – Yours, etc,
