Sir , – It seems that the Central Bank, which investigated Davy, was unable to find any evidence of criminal activity in the firm ("No suspected criminal activity found at Davy, Oireachtas told", News, March 9th).
Perhaps someone in the Central Bank bank might refer to section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001. It states, “Any person who dishonestly, with the intention of making a gain for himself or herself or another or of causing a loss to another, by any deception, induces another to do or refrain from doing any act is guilty of an offence.”
The maximum penalty is an unlimited fine and/or five years’ imprisonment. – Yours, etc,
WILLIAM KENNEDY,
