Madam, – For years now I have been trying to convince the Irish Government to stop dealing with endemically corrupt regimes in the developing world. But I have failed miserably.
No matter how much supportive evidence was produced, my appeals were consistently ignored, and business carried on regardless.
I always wondered why – until now.
As our country goes bust, bankers, civil servants and politicians still have their snouts deep in the public trough. The very people who brought about the economic collapse are still helping themselves to outrageous bonus and pension payments, irrespective of the state of the country, or the plight of those whose lives have been made a misery.
It is an obscene situation that raises fundamental questions about the political and power structures in Ireland.
Perhaps, in their own fashion, they are not dissimilar to those that I constantly complain about. Maybe it is no wonder I have been ignored. – Yours, etc,
