Dealing with drug dealers

Sir, – I recently spent three days in Singapore, an interesting place.  As we approached the airport we were warned by cabin staff that  if anybody was found carrying more than the legal limit of drugs for personal use, they, if found guilty, would face execution. Notices to that effect were also in the terminal building.

Then back to Ireland and a report saying how many young people known to the  HSE  had died of overdoses – a figure that couldn’t include all those others who also died of overdosing or who died by suicide who were not known to the HSE.

Reports too of “grow houses” and of huge quantities of drugs being smuggled into our country for the enrichment of the few and the ruination of many.

I  see no reason why drug dealers, couriers and growers should not be tried and if found guilty executed. – Yours, etc,
