Sir, - In recent weeks, Ms Aine Ni Chonaill of the Immigration Control Platform has been forced to cancel a number of planned public meetings as a result of the rent-a-crowd activities of the self-styled Anti-Nazi League. To the best of my knowledge, there has been not a chirp about this from any of our public representatives or from guardians of civil rights such as the Irish Council of Civil Liberties and Amnesty International.
One does not have to be a supporter of Ms Ni Chonaill or agree with her views on asylum-seekers to be appalled at this blatant denial of her right to free speech. Is Amnesty International concerned about human rights abuses only when they occur in foreign lands? - Yours, etc.,
