Sir, – In view of the sensitive and compassionate treatment of Julie Howley’s subject (“Death of the man in the doorway”, January 26th), I do not wish to sound churlish by pointing out that John Donne’s “No Man is an Island” is not a poem. It is a prose work (however poetic in tone) from what are loosely called his Sermons; and can be found in Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions – Meditation XVII. – Yours, etc,
