Sir, - The events surrounding Neil Lennon's enforced retirement from international soccer are appalling.

Northern Ireland has been deprived of its best player by the threats of a bigoted few. It puts into perspective the "controversy" surrounding Roy Keane's exclusion (both imposed and self-imposed) from the Republic of Ireland team.
