Sir, - As Fintan O'Toole points out in his column (August 13th), Ireland is rated the fourth richest country in the world by the United Nations Development Programme Report.
Just above us, in third place, is Norway, the only Nordic country to have decisively voted "No" to the European Union. So much for the scare-mongering of our political establishment and others who warn of "dire consequences", economic devastation etc. if we vote "No" to Nice! - Yours, etc.
