Sir, - Instead of erecting wind turbines on hilltops and other places of natural beauty, how about erecting them along motorways and other national primary routes?

Admittedly, such locations would not be as windy as mountain tops, but such roads tend to be built in open, windswept countryside away from built-up areas.

The "drone" from these turbines would be drowned out by noise of existing traffic and energy from these windmills would be a cheap source of power to light up these roads and thereby make them safer.

Whatever is decided in the end, surely wind-farms are a far cry from the smoky chimney stacks of the industrial revolution. - Yours, etc.,
